From Grassroots
To Social Change
Every movement begins with a need—the need to be heard, seen and respected. TISAR Trust began with a simple but powerful realisation: many transmasculine and gender and sexual minority people, especially those from marginalised and underserved communities, were struggling to find safe spaces, healthcare, livelihood opportunities and a sense of belonging. What started as a community-driven initiative grew through shared experiences, peer support and the courage of people who refused to remain invisible. We began by listening to our community—understanding their everyday challenges, their aspirations and their hopes for a life lived with dignity. Over time, our work expanded into health and wellbeing, mental health peer support, awareness, legal information, sports, livelihood and skill development, and grassroots community outreach. From creating a safe space where someone can simply speak without fear, to bringing communities together through cricket and marathon, every step has been about building confidence, connection and collective strength. Today, TISAR is not just an organisation. It is a community-led journey of resilience, solidarity and change. Our story continues—with every person who finds their voice, every community member who finds support, and every barrier we work together to break. We believe change begins when people come together—and it grows when communities lead it.
Through advocacy, healthcare support, education, legal assistance, and community empowerment, TISAR has grown into a trusted organization working across West Bengal to uplift lives and inspire meaningful social change.
